This is not good news for Scott.
The natives are panicking as they fight over spots in the “right” pre-schools. I wonder what happened to all those egalitarian society ideals that we always hear from left coast liberal elites?
I guess mixing with the riff-raff at the local Kindercare is something they think is only good for the kids of Republican parents.
It sucks to be a kid with foolish parents today.
The sad thing is that these kids are stuck with their narcissistic parents. There’s no time any more to be a child or joy in the journey in the culture that the Left adores so much.
The article says the boomlet began after 2000. So, don’t you see? Bush gets elected, the country gets more conservative, and even San Francisco starts having babies again. It’s a beautiful thing.
Or…the country gets too conservative, so nature adapts by producing more liberals.
I don’t know about anyone else out here (I’m in Silicon Valley) but when everyone had layoffs and raises and promoions were frozen, it seemed like a perfect time to have a baby! No need to work late and kill myself for the boss when they’ve declared no raises for who knows how long.
I think a lot of the people panicing about daycares aren’t your hippy dippy parents. It’s a lot more about the people who immigrated here and generally send their kids to private school (or pay through the nose to live in the areas with the better schools) because the school systems are so horrible out here.
Think — CA schools are some of the worst in the nation, but it’s an area packed with high tech and biotech professionals. They aren’t really going to stand for schools that teach fuzzy math and bad science.
