$7 million dollars for a new park…

Jun 08

…and they didn’t even provide covered dugouts. WTF? Our first baseball game was yesterday. It was 100 degrees and brutally humid. We were playing at Patriot Park, Spotsylvania’s brand new park featuring 6 baseball fields, 6 soccer fields, and amphitheater, and more. The fields are great, nice and level with bermuda grass outfields. However, somewhere along the way somebody must have decided they could save a couple of thousand bucks by not covering the dugouts on the baseball fields.

Did I mention it was 100 and humid yesterday? The kids (and the coach!) desperately needed some shade. We called a parent that wasn’t there yet and had him bring a plastic tarp and some string so we could rig up some shade. That’s right, the county spent $7 million bucks on a new park and during baseball games it looks like a shanty town because the teams rig up tarp covers for the dugouts.

Nice.
