She’s fat, and a princess, and a game character, so let’s all get offended

Local F’burg blogger Bryan thought I would enjoy this link, and he is right. It seems Sony has a kicked up a shit storm by previewing a game titled Fat Princess. There is nothing malevolent about the game as far as I can tell. It seems to be a bit of a spoof on the typical fair maiden princess character that usually gets the terminally offended class up in arms. In this case, the big boned princess has been kidnapped and is being stuffed full of food, and you are trying to rescue her before she gets too fat to move. Goofy? Most definitely. Offensive? Not really. I guess it would be better if the “timer” element in the game was the planned marriage and subsequent rape of a beautiful princess by the evil king.
I’m guessing Sony was hoping for all the free publicity because I can’t imagine that they were dumb enough to think it wouldn’t cause a scene. How long until somebody blames childhood eating disorders on this game that is not even available for purchase yet?
It’s just a game, and the premise is so unbelivable, everybody knows she wouldn’t get fat until after the wedding…..
Actually, in medieval times she wouldn’t get married unless she was fat. A little excess weight was a sign of prosperity and that the kingdom was doing well.
