Name That Costume

Halloween just isn't what it used to be. The nattering nabobs of negativity that are taking over the country have about sucked all the life out of this holiday. Only one house in my neighborhood even bothered to do more than a token pumpkin on the porch, and about 1/3 of the homes were not participating at all.

In my day, we had ways of dealing with the non-participants. However, today our methods would likely qualify as a hate crime.

When I was a kid, we used to have to trick-or-treat uphill -- both ways!

Guenevere and Lancelot?

No more than 1/2 the homes here played last night. We had a total of 5 kids stop by, but that's probably more a function of the ages of the families in the neighborhood.

Correct Daryl.

Update: Not correct. Breck was Sir Tristran.

We had four kids. I guess many people in my immediate neighbourhood (the ones who actually have kids) take them to a subdivision. Less work, more loot.

There is hope, though... my neighborhood is pretty Halloween crazy. We have two new families who recently moved from India, and they are really trying to get with the "spooky spirit".

So after seeing all the decorations, they put out Christmas lights and one even had a Christmas wreath on the door. My son said the older lady who answered the door at one house didn't speak - she just held out a bowl of candy and nodded several times. ;-) Hohoho!

Our neighborhood was pretty active, even moreso than in years past. Lots of houses went well beyond the "normal" decorations and pretty much everyone was participating. Lots of kids out, too. Definitely a nice Halloween for everyone.

If I were a Muslim, I would be offended by Breck's "Christian Crusader" costume. :-)

We had somewhere between 30-40 kids. About 9pm, lights all out, pumpkin the garbage can, some of the trailer park kids went house to house after it was clear that Halloween was over, and asked for the leftover candy, I loaded them up. Gotta respect them for sticking it out there.
